A Story of Joy and Adventure

Stephanie Taylor spends her work days making a real difference for the people of Mississippi through her role with Community Counseling Services in West Point. Her southern roots run deep, making summertime a special time of year for her. The season fills her with both excitement for the future and nostalgia for the past.

She enjoys southern summer days and the sense of adventure that comes with this time of year. For Stephanie, adventure is all about change and charting new paths in her life. She believes that this spirit can be found at the core of every life well lived.

“I love trying new things, visiting new places, meeting new people and learning something new,” she said. “This is how I grow as a person.”

Summer, with its sweltering hot days and sultry nights, comes alive for Stephanie as both a source of joy in the present and a powerful time to reminisce about days gone by. Taylor recalls Fourth of July celebrations and spending summer evening fishing with her dad among her favorite memories.

“There are a lot of positive emotions that come up for me during the summer, especially when I take the time to think back on childhood memories like cookouts, sleepovers and family reunions,” said Taylor. “I’m continuing these traditions as an adult while creating new ones.”

Taylor’ sense of adventure can often take her far from her Mississippi home. A recent summertime trip found her in the Pacific Ocean, making a memory that will last a lifetime.

“A visit to Santa Barbara, California a few years back to visit a childhood friend was a great experience,” she said. “I was able to fulfill a long-time wish to go whale watching. It was both moving and peaceful, seeing these graceful animals and feeling at one with my surroundings.

“It was truly the adventure of a lifetime.”
